Taking Jewelry to Art Class

Updated: Jul 10, 2020

I think I have been making jewelry of some sort since I was a very little girl. I'd string up little seed beads and tie them off on my mom's sewing thread. Wear them around my neck proudly as if they had just come from the front counter at Tiffany's in New York.

Then again in high school, I made a few pieces to wear for special occasions. My mom was one of the best seamstress ever! We would pour over patterns and pictures that I would find in Vogue or some other fashion magazine on her days off from work. Then we would make a list, I would choose the fabric with her and create clothes for my wardrobe. One of a kind closets needed one of a kind accessory drawers. That's where the Black Salty Dog was really first created.

Black Salty Dog is really a copulation of all the dogs that I've had the fortune to own or have in my life. Seeing their love of doing their own thing, especially at the beach, reminded me of my mom's favorite advice to give. "March to Your own beat, and bring your own band!" With her support and my families encouragement I am launching the Black Salty Dog with that idea in mind.

So in all that you do, March to Your own Beat.

Join our family with a one of a kind piece of jewelry.
